Volunteer Grant Writer – International Education & Women’s Empowerment

Other Jobs To Apply

No other job posts for this day.

Location: Remote

Commitment: Flexible hours | 3-month commitment

Period: September–December 2026

We are looking for 2 experienced volunteer Grant Writers to join us for an initial three-month period, coinciding with our seventh semester.

Each Grant Writer will take ownership of one of two priority funding areas:

  1. Technology & Laptop Funding

Identifying and applying for grants to provide laptops and monthly internet payments for students.

  1. Organisational Capacity & Afghanistan-Based Staff

Identifying and applying for grants that can support organisational capacity building, including salaries or stipends for Afghanistan-based team members, training and the infrastructure required to deliver and expand our programmes.

Applicants may express a preference for either funding area.

What You Will Do

This is a highly autonomous role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being given a clear objective and taking ownership of achieving it.

You will have access to information about our programmes, students, impact and organisational activities needed to prepare strong applications.

Who We Are Looking For

Previous successful grant-writing or institutional fundraising experience for US 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisations. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is proactive, resourceful and comfortable working independently without close supervision.

If you enjoy being given a difficult objective, researching the landscape and figuring out how to make it happen, you will fit well with the way we work. Hours are completely flexible. We care considerably more about ownership and results than when or where you work.

We ask for an initial commitment through December 2026, covering the remainder of Victory Afghanistan’s 7th semester. We operate in a humanitarian crisis environment, so while the schedule is flexible, the need is real and immediate.

Governance

The Grant Writers will report directly to Victory Afghanistan’s Board of Directors, which includes four Afghan women, one of whom remains based in Kabul while the other directors are based in the United States. This provides an unusual opportunity to work directly with the leadership of a grassroots Afghan-led organisation and help build its institutional funding capability at an important stage of its development.

Please send your expression of interest to Zion at zion@victoryafghanistan.org.

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
